Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam Central School, Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam Hockey Games Raise More Than $1,800 for Local Charity

Two charity hockey games held at Clarkson University's Cheel Arena raised $1,833 for the Potsdam Educational Opportunities Fund (PEOF), last month.

Hockey GamePEOF is a grassroots organization that was initiated in 2012 to provide financial support for K-12 educational activities in the Potsdam Central School District.

The first game featured Potsdam Central School (PCS) faculty and staff versus Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH) faculty and staff. PCS took a 3-0 lead in the first half, but CPH rallied to pull within 1, with PCS managing to hold on to win 5-3.

In the second game, Clarkson University faculty and staff faced-off against SUNY Potsdam faculty and staff. SUNY took an early lead, but Clarkson rallied to come within 1 in the final minutes only to lose 7-5 on an empty net goal.

More than 170 fans gathered to watch the games, enjoy popcorn, throw chuck-a-pucks and join in the celebration provided by PCS’s cheerleaders and pep band.

PEOF is operated through a volunteer advisory committee of supporters and community representatives.
